60th Birthday Gathering
We all descended on Granny and Granda with a BIG cake to celebrate her 60th Birthday later in the week. We all had a good time and hopefully Granny did too.

Xmas Decorations
Step-by-Step Xmas Tree decorations by Interior designer K. Always start with the lights on so you can place decorations to make the best use of reflected light. Then start placing the decorations!

Slowly build up the layers of decoration ensuring you remember the maximum load bearing capacity of each branch. Branches range from 0.2kg at the top to 1kg on the bottom branches.

The use of decorations to reflect and brighten the tree is becoming evident.

Installation of the Fairy. A highly skilled task that should only be undertaken by qualified Fairy Application & Realignment Technicians (affectionately known as FARTs) and always in strict compliance with ISO standard Fairy2:1998

St. Andrew's Day
St. Andrew's Day is the feast of Saint Andrew, celebrated on 30 November each year. Saint Andrew is the Patron Saint of Scotland and St. Andrew's Day is Scotland's official National day, although Burns' Night is more widely observed.
St. Andrews day is celebrated more outside of Scotland than it is at home but it's popularity is slowly growing. A long way to go before the celebrations near that of St. Patrick in Ireland but we did our bit this year and hope it becomes more popular in years to come.
K; face painted with the blue and white of St. Andrew for the occasion

K and Ariel (nearly 6 months old - sisters!)

K made some Blue decorations to mark the occasion

School Bus Trip to Pittodrie Stadium
Aberdeen 2 - 0 Motherwell
What an excellent day out. Bus from school to Pittodrie, where we were escorted to our seats and lavished with freebies.
The match was quite exciting (the second half at least). It was the first time some of the kids had been to a live football match and experienced the atmosphere.
After the match the bus stopped at Balmedie for a chip-shop supper. A welcome treat after a few hours in the cold.
The stadium was far from full but considering the sub zero temperatures attendance still exceeded 10,000.
Substitute Gary McDonald headed home the first goal just a few minutes after replacing the injured Andrew Considine and the second goal was a penalty taken by Lee Miller after Motherwell's Paul Quinn's foul on Darren Mackie (who would certainly have scored had Quinn not taken him down). Quinn was sent off as a result leaving Motherwell with 10 men and 25 minutes still to go.
Mum's attempts at a cosy Aberdeen scarf

The tickets. Seat numbers were a few rows apart but the group were in one area so we sorted out individual seating when we got there

SNOW
We had a brief shower in September but this time it lasted for longer and hung around for a while.
I think we'll need to scrape the windshields this morning

A hungry Robin looking for something to eat

Thank goodness for K's bright RED feeding post we featured back in August

Children in Need 2008
Well done to Fraserburgh Academy for smashing previous records and raising a staggering £14,073 for Children in Need 2008. Fraserburgh Academy has always raised huge sums of money, far in excess of other local colleges and organisations and it was good to see them get a brief slot on TV this year. Keep up the good work Kids!

Deep Sea World
On the way home we stopped off in North Queensferry and visited Deep Sea World. Always entertaining with its underwater conveyor belt and resident sharks and rays. A very good attraction. The photos of the sharks and rays didn't turn out too good unfortunately because of the bright backlighting.
Follow the signs.

The girl in the rockpool kept the kids mesmerised with her crustaceans and starfish!

One of the locals.

How colourful is that?
There are 2 Clownfish. Can you spot them both? Click on the photo to enlarge if you need to.

You could be excused for inadvertently stepping on this stonefish.
