K and Dad decided it was time to finally make a start on the pond and the hard standing for erection of a sectional garage or large shed, which we'd been speaking about since June last year. So far we have spent Saturday 24th, half of Sunday 25th and Saturday 31st October on the project. Dark nights and late evenings at work limits time on the project.Area for the hard standing. Currently a few 3 x 2 slabs that an 8 x 6 shed sat on.
Dad in a mini digger. Check out the big kid's stupid grin. Digging out a hole for the pond before preparing the hardstanding foundation. The pond will not be finished until next year so no further photos of that. Saving them for one blog entry next Spring or maybe Summer, depending on how much time Dad gets to spend on it.
Cleared foundation for the hardstanding sub-base. anybody want some topsoil?
This is what 12t of hardcore looks like
Half way there. Dad almost broke his back but managed to move all but 1t of hardcore with a wheelbarrow in one day
Hardcore base ready for compacting. Thereafter it will need shuttering ready for the readymix to be poured. Hopefully manage to complete before temperature drops too far.
Look out for the next thrilling instalment, maybe in a week or two, weather permitting!
